Bakelite? I didn't know bakelite was any other color than the normal brownish color I've always seen? Either way, that's a chunk of change for a knob. |

Sweet, I never knew you could get it in a bunch of different colors. I still can't see spending over $200 on a knob though, but that's just me lol. |

Does it have a VW part # and logos on the underside like original knobs? |
If it truly is a VW part it will have part number and logo. From the pic of the underside, I see no such evidence.
I'm calling it REPRO. _________________

I don't believe VW ever made these accessory shift knobs. The VW box is there for effect in the $25 ad. Note that the shift markings are deeply embossed into the plastic; period original accessory knobs are not, and the markings wear off fairly easily.
I believe Rich's is an actual period accessory knob, designed to fit the pre-1962 shift lever, as the markings are nearly flush with the surface ($250 is way too much IMHO, though). _________________ Thanks,

Everett - it looks like your theory may be correct, given the ad's "pending" status. If this is how parts are going to go, then this is both frustrating and sad. |

Funny how owners of KCW built cars don't keep them very long. Even funnier that KCW is not mentioned at all in the ad. I could be wrong but I think this is the second time this one is up for sale (different tires and wheels this go round). |
On this one I am sure the turn handle at the front hood was added in the restoration.
Looking at the VIN the handle was changed around 6000 cars before.
Just as the banana bumpers. _________________ Master of my domain! |
