Hello experts. I'm learning. Can someone tell me what this is and what it's for? It's inside my dash. Thanks.

Its the headlight relay. Switches between lo-beam and high.
It looks like the one I had, and it came with the car back in 1973.
It hooks to the inside of the dash, behind the headlight switch, with that little tab which is near the palm in the picture. This connection provides the ground, so its important to keep it hooked up. I have heard of folks finding it bouncing around in the dash who also had problems with the headlights.

Had headlight problems once. I found the relay was bad, so I ordered a new one. New ones I have managed to get were so poorly constructed, I reverted to disassembling my original relay, cleaning it, and continuing to use it to this day.
