Does anyone out there have a basic motor wiring diagram they could share or explain? I have what has been told to be a 1600. I know it is sigle port with a 12 v generator. I have it on a stand. I would like to try and fire her up. The wiring was pulled prior. I am looking for coil wiring, generator wiring, regulator wiring, distributor, starter and anything else you could think of.
Thanks in advance. |

Their listed 181 '73 diagram isn't accurate, the (very large) '74 diagram looks more like it. Since it's on a stand, you probably could use their given diagram - there's not too much to hook up - less if you don't care about the generator charging the battery.
I'm reworking my wiring and doing away with the test plug. That plug doubles the wires in the rear of the car and it's pretty worthless. |

Bug wiring is basically the same except for the gas heater setup. I used a wiring diagram for a 73’ beetle in the Haynes manuals when I rewired my car mixed with a 75 diagram when I switched to an alternator. _________________ Order of the Voodoo Spoon |

The RoMTOC Thing Data CD now comes with all the air cooled VW wiring diagrams. |
