Sean Lyle [email protected] listed a rear seat on the samba. I wrote him and asked about it. Told him I was going to be in the LA area and would be interested in it if he were close. He wrote me and told me he was 400 miles north. But he said that he could ship it if I wanted to buy it. He also wanted me to wire him the money so he could send it the next morning, here's his email "So i can pick the money up right now? I will sent it to you first thing tomorrow. SEaN"
So we are going on two weeks now. I ask him to send my money back and he is wanting to keep $50 out of the 150 that I sent. Stating that he bought a box that cost $13 but the day before he told me he looked at boxes but they didnt have boxes large enough. So beware of internet buying obviously this person is not a man of his word. Here are some of his emails. "I got the money, I am eating off it right now, money tastes good. I will sent it tomorrow! I cleaned most of the bed, but it could use about another 10 min cleaning. "I was busy today and didnt have my car anyways, tomorrow i will ship it!SEaN" TWO DAYS LATER "I couldnt find a box, some guy at homedepot was going to give me one but he never showed up. anyway I will ship it tomorrow" THREE DAYS AFTER THIS MESSAGE "I have been so busy! I am so sorry, i will have it shiped to you tomorrow. SEaN" Another day passes "no, i took it apart really to be shipped, tomorrow sorry sean" After that I asked him to just return my money since he obviously was not going to ship the seat. I was not rude I just told him that obviously this was a bigger problem than he could deal with. His reply was to keep $50. The problem is I don't even know if he will ever send anything back.
Is anyone with me in saying that maybe there should be a seller rating like there is on auction sites. It is difficult to find certain items and I rely on people making honest business deals. It's a shame that a man can't be as good as his word anymore. |

| Sorry to hear about your troubles. you are right, when a buyer acts in good faith, and gets stung, it hurts your faith in the hobby, and mankind in general. one of the reasons this stuff goes on, however, is that most of us simply either flame the individual involved, or chalk it up to experience. in a case like this, however, you seem to have things pretty much documented, and unfortuately for the seller, he committed, and then also apparently documented, two felonies - mail and wire fraud. Send him a certified letter informing him he has 10 days to make good on your funds entirely, or you will turn it over to the FBI and/or the postal inspectors. (The FBi may not take it seriously, but the Postal Service sure does- they even have a set procedure for this sort of thing.) I bet that will get his attention. Chances are, he doesn't have the money, but given the threat of fed action, you may be able to work something out. As you can see, I have been there, done that... and found this to be the most effective, least time consuming route to getting some sort of satisfaction. I would like to see Everett set aside, and promote, a space on the site for seller/buyer feedback... good and bad. just a place for comments, and as the section grows, maybe index it by email, rather than name, as we have all seen the effectiveness of aliases here. |

Well it worked like a charm. Thanks for the advice. With the right buttons pushed (the legal avenues explained) and the public display the issue was resolved.
You're right a lot of people get by with this because many people just let it go. |

Hey I did a deal with this guy chris on here and he was a man of good faith. He sent everything that he said and in good order. I believe he is selling a GEX motor brand new and some other stuff. He is from OHIO and he is a man of his word. So if you need to deal with him I give him a excellent rating.

He sent the item and an apology. I was happy to get the item and no harm done except for the extra expense of wiring the money.
Funny IĈm from Ohio also. |

| i had a guy in england who wanted me to cut the rear fenderwells out of a fastback. i stripped the fenders and the interior to take pictures of them , did a bunch of saving to disc to transfer to another computer to email them from, had many correspondences from him, callled his friend long distance in san francisco, to discuss him picking them up to have them shipped to england then the guy in englan bailed, said he found some there. sure glad I didn't cut them off. wishy washy Time wasters are the biggest problem. |
