Well I thought I would start a thread on my new toy. I traded the 68 deluxe for it and it is a project. It was quite a trip up to PA from VA to pick up. Maybe later on that story. Here are some pictures when i got it into the garage.

Awesome build. I don't know how I missed this! If you drove through eastern shore MD you passed my house!
You are absolutely killing it.

Ordered my new WW nose tuesday and it is scheduled for delivery next week, stay turned for installation. Hopefully it will be as good of quality as the front floors they offer.

Great work so far. I'm working on a '65 single cab as well, and will keep an eye on your progress. Keep it up!

I'd suggest you add "single cab" to your thread title...

Please describe the fit and any issues/overall impressions. I have been holding off on a KF nose waiting for a review of this one due to needing the windshield section as well.

PostPosted: Fri Sep 12, 2014 5:21 am    Post subject: Fit Reply with quote

So far
THE PROS:
Fit is very good
Windshield section spot welded in place
Received in a week of ordering
.
Cons:
I feel the edge/lip that bends over the a pillar and outer valance is just a little bit short
Will have to be trim on center windshield section (ref to second picture on truck)
No headlight buckets (will remove from old nose)
Doesn't come with the little piece that connects the windshield center post to nose.

Now installation;
1. Do I spot weld on truck?
2. Or do I plug weld?
Any thoughts.

Thanks

Unless you have an industrial sized spot welder I think you should plug weld. I plug welded mine from the A pillar side before bending the flange over.

Here is a link to my thread on welding a nose.
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5...;start=300

I have both KF and WW noses. The KF has a crisper stamping. The inside corners are sharper and there is less recurve at the bottom (a good thing) with KF. KF did have some anomalies with the window stamping that my video shows how I corrected. I don't have WW to compare.

Looks like you are having a lot of fun.
Kurt

Thanks Kurt for the heads up about spot or plug welding. This has been a good project so far.
