I want to bolt on a set of ratio rockers on my 67 bus. I rebuilt the trans. with a 3:88 and .077 4th but lost pulling power! I'm not sure which to use, the 1.25's or 1.4's. I have a set of ratios, I belieive they are 1.4's but when I installed them and checked lift on #1 exhaust it "stacked" the valve springs where I couldn't get a .06 feeler gauge between the springs! These rockers had the adjusters on the push rod end and cupped ends on the push rods. The push rods I got with these rockers are shorter than my stock aluminum push rods so I can't figure out why my #1 exhaust valve springs "stacked". I will probably order a new set from SCAT but I'm not sure whether to buy 1.25's or 1.4's and if I buy 1.4's, will they come with the correct push rods or will I have to cut a set to fit. Anyone out there with advice and experience in using the ratio rockers and how much diffence they make on a stock engine with stock cam will be greatly appreciated. I'd like to use the 1'4's to get more power but are they worth it or should I use 1.25's and what about push rods? Thanks for any experienced advice!

Before you buy anything--Get a copy of a March 1998 Hot VW`s magazine--There is an article on increase HP on a stock 1600 including ratio rockers, it will really help. I have a Scat Zero Mile 1600 in a 67 type II and and did the improvements called out in the article and it really made a jump in performance.----Bill

You might be disappointed to find that ratio rockers only add significant power at the higher rpms...4000-6000. Not much use unless you've got the rest of the parts: HD valve springs, etc. to go with it.

you only want to put 1.25 rockers on unless cam was designed for more. I put some on a stock 1600 d/p. and was suprised at the extra kick above 2500RPMs lost a little on the very bottom but felt driveability was much nicier with the extra kick, bus was a complete 69WESTY gas milege stayed within a couple of miles a gallon. THANKS TOM
