Hi Can any one tell me how the Fuel tap that sits under a BD fuel tank comes apart as mine is slightly blocked due to no use for the past 20 odd years Laughing also do you know if these taps can be bought new/recon/anything or were they fitted so another bus etc

Many Thanks Nick..

They come apart the same way the later ones do... remove tap (watch out for nasty old gas pouring out of the tank)

press tap together, (I put the spout through a hole in the work bench, and push down on the twisty part with a socket that fits aroun the sticky out thing. Hmm I think a picture is worth a thousand words here.
pry out circlip

should come apart, but sometimes the old gas had glued everything together even if you soak it in solvent for two weeks.

I've seen NOS ones from time to time.
Think they are the same as early beetles, off hand.
NOT the same as 55-61 bus. Those will fit though.

the screen in the tank could be clogged, FWIW. That mesh sock
