Hi guys. I've just opened a blog dedicated to Sprintstar wheels. What I want is to put together as much people as possible who own Sprintstar Wheels...
You are welcome if you want to post the pictures of your Volkswagen with Sprintstars, or even if you only want to take a look at the other cars.
You are welcome even if you have a set of sprintstars and you want to sell them, or if you're looking for a set of these wonderful wheels, no matter if original or replica, 4 or 5 bolts
We're waiting for you at the following address www.sprintstar.blogspot.com
Thanks |

Great site and idea ! ! ! These really ARE one of the most beautiful wheels made, aren't they? Surprisingly they look as good or better in silver and black as they do in chrome, and translate into four lug as good as they look in five lug . . . maybe the mark of a perfect design.
I only have two nice narrow ones, still looking for another pair. |

I tend to agree, as far as custom wheels go. The thing I like about them is that they don't have the "harsh angularity" that the very popular BRM/BRM replicas have--the Sprints seem to have "softer edges," which, to me, go better with the graceful curves of old VWs, like Bugs and Ghias. Just my feeling anyway. The fact that they're *steel* (the originals anyway) also appeals to me on some level--maybe more of an "old school" type of thing...
I've done refinishing projects on both 5-bolt and 4-bolt in the "standard" two tone rally wheel silver w/dull black highlights (wow, the masking job on 4-bolters is a lot more intensive than for 5-bolters), also some monotone silver 4-bolters, which, to me, allowed the slots to stand out a bit (they kind of get lost in the blackness otherwise).
The latest look I'm anxious to try is glossy black monotone, with chrome lug bolts & caps. Here is my set of 4-bolt narrows, as freshly painted last fall (not sure what kind of tires I want to put on them yet, though):

Hey cool idea and you guys can probably lead me to where I need to be.
I bought a 70 beetle vert that had sprintstars and gt steering wheel! The wheels are very straight but need to be rechromed. Know of any good shops that can do this work. Preferebly closer to TN but I am willing to ship them if need be. |

Can anyone tell me how much an original set of 5-lug Empi SprintStar wheels are worth? I'll post some pictures soon... just looking for an estimate--thanks! (Will get the pics over to your blog, too)

Thanks TC--not sure about Litchfield--though for Terryville my goal is to drive the '50 Bug, since there will be a splits muster "record attempt" there.
Somewhat challenging to acquire those tires--the big internet tire place that advertises them on their web site took approximately 7 months to get them to me after I ordered them. I was even calling BFGoodrich myself to ask them to please try & expedite my tires. Must be a fairly low-selling size (though I'd think that domestic hot-rodders might use them for front tires at least)... _________________ Stock Steve

I finally picked up a set recently, some may recognize them, and yes they sure are yellow.
They're all 5 1/2" x 15" and date stamped 3/71. The plan was to reband a pair to 4 1/2" but I'm stil debating.
