in the past week or so, I ordered new wheel cylinders, had the OG master cylinder rebuilt, cleaned up all the front brake parts up, had the drums cut, por15d everything up front, packed new bearings and installed all new brakes.

Next step is Transmission, motor, hopefully not a complete wire harness, but electrical for sure. and interior once is road worthy. |
Great job Manny! _________________

I drove my bus around today, and talked to ALL the previous owners of it. really strange coincidence. I was at a stoplight, and a lady and the man who I assume was her father told me that they owned that exact bus in the '60s. she said that it had the covered wagon thing back then. she was asking him questions about the bus, but she certainly recognized it and knew the truck. the light changed and she drove away, then ten minutes later, I was coming out of a store, and there was a guy checking out the doublecab, and he told me that he used to own it. he was the second owner (early 90s to 2011). he told me about the original owner, who matched the general description of the gentleman in the passenger seat of the car that I saw at the stoplight ten minutes before. I talked to the second owner for a good ling time, and got his contact info. for the tri-fecta, I called my friend, Don, who I had bought the doublecab from and told him about the encounters.
the truck is a nice original mostly unmolested light grey doublecab. it was sold new in Boise, and has lived in the valley its entire life. it is not totally presentable right now, as there are a few things I need to replace and correct on it. I went ahead and drove up to a scenic spot and took a photo so y'all could see what truck I am talking about.

I just had the pleasure of seeing it at Kelley Park a few weekends ago, and that thing is way past presentable! An awesome old Double-Cab, with beautiful OG paint on pretty much everything! Check out those OG bumpers!
I was droolin'... and I already have a pretty nice DC myself.

Yes stock bus trans,Flipped the differential .....,Only other mod was cutting the shock mounts off the axle tubes since I used Oldspeed drop plates(drop plates have shock mounts), and Brake cable exstenders were needed. |

Put this in my bus today. Picked this switch up from Gabe at Red Barn and finally got time to install it. Works like a charm, and now I have a ONE key bus.

Pulled the engine for a carb & manifold swap. Got a new distributor and coil to match up w/ the Solex I got. Cleaned out the remnants of the worn out engine seal and started cleaning the engine compartment. Debating what else I want to do while it's out.

I ran across Steve and Tracy at Clean Rides a few weeks ago while working a job site next to their shop. It's taken me almost a decade, but I finally got off my duff and decided it was time to restore my bus (which has not moved for roughly the same amount of time). It wasn't today, but I managed to take about 150 pics and delivered them to the shop. They had 3 67's in the shop and it was great to see the works in-progress. _________________ In 1966 Volkswagen pinched my loaf.
