I agree, too yellowish -brown. The Almond is supposed to be a match for Pearl White, not even close IMO. I would go with the Dover White on your rims, it will be very close to the color you probably want. |

yup post that one to the color boards. Krylon is hard to find around here in new england. Only wal*mart sells it. Painting white tomorrow then tires. I was thinking 205/75/15 any thoughts? stock suspension big nut 66 _________________ Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.

All for the love of the bus...
Did a general mechanical look-over (oil, tires, etc.), got our cat/house sitter, packed our camping gear and made a new mileage booklet.
The page of the booklet below I did up in MS Word; it is a 1/4th-page sized booklet.
The graphic of the bus interior is from some SO-42 manual.
I've only got four digits for mileage, 'cause my rebuilt engine, transmission and speedometer/odometer were all installed within 30 miles of one another.
I'm still below 5,000 miles on all three (4,923).
Sure, not major stuff, but I'm just really excited to be going to Clear Lake (California) this weekend for the June 14, 2014 - Lakeport Camp & Shine.
Hope to see some of you there!

tinkered with the kombi day before yesterday
- the fuel pump replacement done at OCTO seemed to hold up
-Replaced shut off solenoid on the carb. found a used 55 jet in my carb drawer, that worked. Now the bus idles.
- red light (gen light) had come on 80 miles from home on the way back from OCTO . After confirming the belt was okay on the side of I-5, we just kept on driving to get home before dark. So checked it - bad brushes. Only found one spare brush; replaced the top one.
On the old worn brush, the area that contacted the commutator was grooved.
Started bus and light was off. Used an orange stick to 'polish' commutator while engine was running. (as per John Muir) Should go buy spare brushes and replace the bottom one.
Have put about 52,000 miles on this bus since getting it Jan 1st 2008, probably over 50K in the 4 1/2 years since Dec 2009. That's when it became our primary driver bus as the 56 went to get welded.
it was getting about 20-21 mpg on the trip to OCTO and back, about 2,400 miles |

drove it!
seems to be running hot after a carb rebuild. I'm 3 turns out on the main mix. Any suggestions on tuning. Can't seem to find that sweet spot? _________________ Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.

Drove the '66 over to my Bud Dave's house, brought my torch & we heated the front shift coupler nut up, got it off, pulled the front section , heated the broken nub/set screw & got it free from the colar, put in a new front shift rod bracket & bolted the short rod back in place, this is on the '60 Dorman Singlecab. Now it's ready for the NEW engine..... _________________ Tom

Built a rear forks dolly so I can move commercials around the pad.
A well equipped guy can fab one up in about 20 minutes.
A perfectionisto like me can take 4 hours to do the same.

Got some tunes in the bus today. This radio was in my bus when I bought it, but i really didnt think it worked, no power lead or speaker. So I ordered a WW speaker bracket and speaker the other day and installed them today not expecting the radio to work, works like a charm AM but better than nothing.I wish I had taken a photo of the bracket and speaker nice pieces that fit well.

Went for a ride to Berkeley the other day because I needed ingredients for some homebrew beer. Had a great ride. I'm getting this one in shape for a long fishing trip to the Sierras. Then gotta decide whether to drive this one or my '60 standard to New Mexico in October.
