the perfect fix for a single or crewcab. virtually undetectable, and in an early one you don't even have to worry about a fuel gauge. _________________ regards

It will be a "see what happens" situation w/ the stock sending unit, not sure how well it will match up w/ the '67 gage, but I usually use a note book to track miles & fill-ups.......
And yes, 16 Gallon tank, easy to put in a Truck. I've had the tank for a few years, got it cleaned & coated last year, finally get to use it. _________________ Tom

I've run a Bay tank for about 18 years in my '62 DC, having replaced it with a new one earlier this year. Greater fuel capacity, but I agree the mixture of a stock split sending unit, coupled with a 6v fuel gauge in a 12v system, concerns me every so often. Still, it is all together pretty spot on. _________________ ,,Wenige Menschen denken, und doch wollen alle entscheiden.'' -der Alte Fritz

Finished my 2" narrowed ball joint adjustable beam for the daddybus. I had misplaced one of the tow hooks that I welded to the lower tube. I knocked the center blocks loose, then cleaned up the welds and painted it.

Removed the brake booster bracket (before paint) then installed NOS needle bearings and added some eye candy for the tow truck driver.

Spent the last few mornings cleaning up the transmission cradle and torsion bar. Scraped off the result of six decades of oil leaks bound up with what looked like Gypsom.
It'll make working under there a lot more pleasant.
After...
Forgot to take decent pictures before, but this was what it looked like when I bought the truck. I'd not have guessed that the torsion tube or cradle were blue...

I didn't like the wrinkled look of my westy you spare tire cover and I was thinking about getting a hard plastic cover from a bay bus. A friend who does upholstery suggested that I make a hardboard insert. So I did.

I always figured 15.8 gallons, I drove a bay perhaps 350,000 miles.
I think the splittie sender is too short to give a full range of travel. Most all bay senders I've taken out were shot. I imagine one could restring the resistance wire. If you have the patience of Job. But there are a few people out there that know about this on the bay list. Bus Depot sells a VDO replacement that is totally different and adjustable. A lever type. That might be a good answer.
But REAL type 2's have reserve taps. Ones that can be rebuilt and new cable bought. Personally, I'd leave the in tank filter off and put a nice metal one just under the tank by the top. Not a fan of see thru plastic fuel filters.

The piece Helmut makes is top notch quality.
Had I not had other things to get done, I think it would have taken around 5-6 hours start to finish.
I'm contemplating putting a write-up together. |
