hi guys after owning splits, bays 181's etc etc for many years I ventured into the realms of beetle ownership in the form of my cool 55 oval. I was drawn to the car by it's amazing rust free condition and it's patina paint.

Original pan is immaculate.
Original 36hp
UK import to Australia
I have a set of OCT 55 - Moto Meter Rally Gauges was contemplating installing
Konis all round
Will drop rear end and put drop spindles on the front.
Looking for - Fuchs or replicas.
Will stay 6v 36hp with stage 3 cam.
Love to hear any hints and tips you may have for me.

Well this will be some contrast to that nice Phillipine Bug before me. I found this Oval not so far from my home in central Alberta. The Body, pan, axles, all match numbers to a June July 54 build. She has no motor, glass, fenders, bumpers, rear clip, decklid, and plenty more. Not too bad for rust, I think she was off the road before salt got into heavy winter use in the 70's. Below the battery is gone, but I'm figuring both pan halves for sure. I will detail things when I begin a build thread after Christmas sometime. What do you think?

Wow Swampman I saw at that one on Kijiji but did not dare take on that much work. I am definitely looking forward to seeing what you can do with it.

This is my solid, dry, rust free oval rag. She is my second oval I have owned. My first one was sold years back but this one is a keeper!
This is when she was found garaged since the 80's
And here she is after a little work!

I have been waiting for the day I could post in this. Yesterday I picked up a real solid rust free 1957, it needs a lot of work which will be the fun part, the engine cover and rear apron are not correct for the car, that will be changed somewhere down the road. I am going tomorrow to buy some parts for it. When the weather gets better here in Indiana I will start a build thread to keep everyone posted on how it is going, here are a few pictures of the starting point

Great looking project, I look forward to following it. Looks like a really solid base car, but with some talent and searching needed to finish her off. What's your time frame to finish? |
