Great looking project, I look forward to following it. Looks like a really solid base car, but with some talent and searching needed to finish her off. What's your time frame to finish? |

I hope to be able to drive it before the end of the year, it will be a 3 or 4 year project to have it "finished" but I don't think they are ever really finished _________________ (o)\!/(o) Proud owner of a 1972 Beetle, 72 Super Beetle, 76 convertible Beetle and a 69 Fastback

Just bought and brought home on Tuesday. I tried to buy this same 56 Beetle in 2008 along with a slew of other VW's but the deal fell thru. Got one of them now.

May 1955. P.O. Labeled her Lucille. Solid matching chassis and body, incorrect 1500 engine. A few other incorrect bits, but I'm working on it.

Hey Everyone .. Just bought myself a 1957 Oval bug
it's in a pretty bad shape, but had a lot of parts original .. A lot of panels need to be changed.. doors, fenders, and boot are swapped for later model ! all to be changed...
engine is not original one, but i tracked it down with it's serial number to be a 70 model ..
It has all the original suspension system and wheels/rims.
interior's a mess .. but so far no rust that can be seen, i hope it stays that way
so far i tracked it's original color to be black, but not yet confirmed until i sand the whole body and check for historic paint haha
i haven't looked a lot on this forum yet (i'm a newbie) but did the 57 Oval have semaphores?

I acquired this 56 about 20 years ago. It had been used as a drag racer and was sitting on a manualised semi-auto pan. I had intended to make it a cal looker, but never got around to it, got married had a child, bought a house, built another house, bought other toys etc etc.
Now I'm older the plan has changed. Its going to be a 90% technically correct resto. I intend the average person to look at it thinking it is an all original resto. I will just have to deal with those few people pointing out the incorrect pieces. The project should begin soonish, I've set up a special VW restoration bank account.

Hi! there,
here is my early 53' RHD from Mozambique (Moçambique).
Just came from south of France after a long barn-time in Portugal.
Need some work, but no welding (brakes, no engine, wrong splitcase from 1959, electricity... and global cleaning!)
Some more pics here: http://mes.vw.free.fr/VolksWagenOvaleAvril1953MozambiqueRHD/
just one regret.... No RagTop.... _________________ Lokking for Early Oval Clip with 3 folds RagTop. |

Here's mine ... she's leaving Montreal on a ship today and coming over to the UK.
Plan to get that paint back to the original which is under there begging to be allowed to see the light of day.
Purchased from and Ad on the samba !
