Has anyone added an extra seat belt on the bench? I have an 87 Westy and sometimes need to take a fifth person, like when my mother comes into town.... maybe I can just leave one of my kids at home, (now that's a thought) but the extra seat belt would be handy. Can I just mount it to the same mounting bolts as the other belts or would that not be safe? _________________ -- 1987 Westfalia automatic (Captain Vino) |

3 people on that bench would be kind of cramped. That's the beauty, sorry no room. I'd leave the mother home! |

One of the UCI Westys here has 3 kids plus a girlfriend. All the kids are between 5-9, so he had an extra seatbelt installed. They just reused the existing mounts, but it worked, and they all went to Yosemite a few weeks ago.
I think the issue is the size of the 'sitters' - I wouldn't want to put 3 there with my kid's child seat....
Best,

Unfamiliar with Westys, (I'm partial to hard-tops) I would be curious how secure a child would be if the top was closed on them while they were in the top bunk.

Shegave you the Westy, that changes everything.
Small kids may fit on the rear seat X3 otherwise look at fitting an optional single seat that fits in front of the rear bench. 150- 300$ used. |

Might have to buy a 7 passenger GL. That's what my parents did when my little sister (kid #5) was born. _________________ '68 Autostick Bug Mom bought new

If you aren't averse to a little welding/fabrication... and sitting backwards, you can get a jumpseat from a weekender or a carat. I'm eyeing the one out of my father-in-law's '87...

Does anyone have a picture of 3 seatbelts on a rear vanagon camper bench? I think it'll work for us til I can source a jump seat. My 3 kids are out of car seats but still very narrow! They can all sit on it comfortably when we yard camp/picnic. |
