Offset doesn't look very favorable for use on a ghia, particularly the very limited rear fender clearance. I typically see those wheels on baja bugs. |
Here ya go .. using them for mock up purposes on the back of my 68, currently with original long axles. Going to swap to short axles and see how they sit, and then use them to calculate my backspace when I get my custom wheels. Note: they stick the tires out the fender so I had to lock the suspension to keep the tires from tearing up the body.

Yikes, I always connotate that style of wheel with either a travel trailer, a 1970's Jeep, or the wall display at Manny, Moe, and Jack's... |
^^^Well said...Actually, I was thinking of the wheel displays at the Montgomery Wards tire center... _________________ '56 European Oval Ragtop-Stock

* ADDITIONAL DISCLAIMER: I am only using these wheels for mock-up purposes only (because they were cheap 15x6 rims that bolted on - and if I needed to cut out the centers and turn them into backspace gauges no big deal). I in no way support endorse or recommend running these rims on your Ghia! |

OK, since no one is holding back how they really feel, let me be the first to say that I think those wheels certainly have their use on a Karmann Ghia.
Tell me what other wheel would look even half as good on a Baja Ghia?

Anything else. Centerlines, some type of bead lock wheel, anything. _________________ Jason

David, where did you get those wheels at? Do you know the offset/backspacing of them? Could you update me on how they fit when you get the short axles in?
Haha I thought everyone was going to fall in love with them and want them, I guess I was wrong? |

Hi there,
I was wondering how you managed to fit the cebter caps over the axle nuts in the rear. did you use 3/8 wheel spacers and longer studs? Did you shorten the stub axles a bit? The stock caps don't come close to being deep enough on my '73 ghia.
Any help / guidance appreciated - thanks |

Ive been searching for awhile on this subject but haven't came up with much. Any chance I can fit 8" wide wheel under the rear of a ghia, and 7"s under the front? 15" diameter. I'm going to flare both the front and rear.
Will I be safe if I run 4.5" back spacing? Im assuming its possible to have a little more back spacing on the rear, what about the front? |

Any better pics of the set up? Perhaps a side view?
Also, what tire sizes?
Thanks, |

Setup is Mendeola based with some creative tweaks on the front end.
205/40/17's up front
215/40/17's in the rear. _________________ Introducing the Basilari 306R.. A low light Ghia, performance chassis and 300HP boxer six.

Thanks! Must have been very "creative" to get those to fit.
I've always liked those rims, but have debated getting them as I'd prefer the 5 spoke version I think...(But I'm not ready to change out my hubs anytime soon). However seeing the 4's on yours, I may have to reconsider... Do you have a profile shot of them on the car by chance?
Thanks again, |

On most other forums when posting up in threads were it is asked what wheel are you running the customary response is with information that is useful.
pictures of your setup
manufacturer
name of wheel
size of wheels
back spacing/offset
tire size and manufacturer
any issues with rubbing
suspension type and any lowering and how
this might actually stop the constant request for information that is never given _________________ Scott
