That is a gorgeous bike.
I had a Traveler in the 60's and boy did I ride the wheels off that bike:

My dad still has his Traveler he bought brand new in 1962. He even has the tag that hung on the handlebars. In fact he just restored it. _________________ -Greg |

Knocked this one together over summer.
The (Black) Baron, sort of going for the Black Knight come world war one fighter of the streets,
black and silver, low and mean lookin!
Beautiful day we have had a hot and dry summer out in the Tasman Sea.
Now the devil is in the detail, really liked the top tube curve and to be honest the whole bike was
built around it, so rather than ruin it with the cables hanging underneath ran them through the top
tube, now I have a nice uncluttered top tube and that curve she is oh so nice!
Had this old rear reflector just waiting for a bike like this, and covered the front brake cables
with scrap outer cable to tidy them up, .
Masked up some sections of the chain guard to break up the chrome.
Stand from a rear axle stand modified to lay it out, bit of a brass bed trim painted silver to
fill the right angle at the bottom of the seat post.
Welded some extensions on some cruiser bars and used some old light fitting ends for the tips.
She rides great, bit twichy turning at low speeds with that aggressive rake, seven speed twist
grip is nice, best thing about this bike only paid for the tyres, chain guard, bondo, paint some
welding wire and gas, all the rest pulled from the metal waste at the local tip!
Here are some before and after pic's from a pile of junk.
To mock up and in the jig before welding.
Primed in the painting booth then a pile of parts.

I bet the little guy is well-trained to keep his paws off those tires! I've seen a couple of side hacks that had extensive guarding for the little ones... nice work! _________________

Here's my son's all original 1947 Firestone Flying Ace, and my 'custom' 1950 Schwinn Spitfire. His is original right down to the Allstate Safety Treads, mine was bought as a rusted heap. Half the spokes are painted black, half are white. I knocked the scale off the metal with a scotchbrite pad and laid on about 15 coats of clear. Both are just a blast to ride.

Hy! - i have a question to all those familiar with older model bikes.
I have a vintage locally produced bicycle, in original condition equipped with a spoon front brake (the kind that pushes on the tire itself from above, when operated by the right hand ) .
So far it seems that is the most inefficient type of brake I have ever seen, and more likely that's why it has been replaced by other designs.
However, I there any way to make a spoon lever brake more efficient to actually be useful at braking ? _________________ 1965 Sunroof Beetle

WallyMart $199 Fatty. Wheels painted white then taped off the spokes and repainted the rim with flourescent pink, topcaot with clear, topcoat again with reflective. Scotchbrited the frame only and shot it with flat clear. Wider white springer seat and white grips on the vintage style handlebars. Little bit of Mattingly Brothers Garage bling and off we go....
My gal loves it.
