I've posted questions but never pictures. I got her in May but haven't driven her much (trying to get rid of the gas smell first). She runs great and looks pretty good. Her name is Snail.

The gas smell is probably the rubber piece between the gas filler and the tank.Replace it, and the fumes in the car will probably be cured. |

Thanks. I've gotten the pieces I need. My tank is too full at the moment so I'll have to drive it a bit first. I'll be glad when it's done and can just smell like old Beetle. _________________ -- Christian

Cool, I get to be the first to say, you need to move your fuel filter away from the ignition coil. |

mustard_madman, I completely agree. The PO put it there. Worse yet, when I first looked at the car, the hose going into the fuel pump didn't even have a clamp and was leaking a fair amount of gas onto the motor. I made the guy go buy a clamp before I'd drive the car away.
Thanks for the advice. I'll get that done before I have a rolling ball of flames. _________________ -- Christian

Sweet looking interior. I'm glad to hear you'll be moving that fuel filter; good eye on safety. Good luck with it _________________ BLTN (Better Late Than Never) San Jose, CA http://www.bltnvw.com
