Wanda,
Lowered ? how much ?
and what offset on those dials ?
Thanks !
Dan |
Wanda is lowered 1 inner spline.
The dials are from a 944. They are ET23,3, the part-number is 951.362.114.00 |
So I got a line on some 15x7 Phone Dials for a REALLY decent price.[edit] They are 23.3 offset. I have been on the fence about pulling the trigger, because I was really worried about the offset pushing the wheels out too much. I am currently collecting parts for my 944 Brake conversion. I am going to have to stay with the early hubs on the rear to keep the track expansion to a minimum if I go with these wheels, but it looks like Wanda did it!
Unless I get a bunch of "DON'T DO IT" posts due to offset nightmares, I think I am going to do it. I love Phone Dials and the ones I am looking at are clean. Might spray'em dark grey and paint my calipers red, to try and look like one of the cool kids......... _________________ ~Remember, take take the road less travelled...

I have my 944T (Brembo 4 pot all the way around) conversion 90% completed (just waiting on two tiny parts for the handbrake) - for my notch.
I have 16" Boxster rims in the boxes waiting. All my rims are ET50. I have done some test fitting.
First off - if you're doing 944 two pot conversion - 15's won't clear the brakes. Second - double and triple check your offsets before buying rims.
I had it set that I was going to do 16" Dials before switching to the boxster rims.

Danielzink, thank you very much for the heads up. I am not doing 4 pot calipers like yours. I am getting the single piston calipers from an 85.5 NA 944. The wheels are from the same car. So I am hoping they won't be a problem.
That is a safe assumption, right? _________________ ~Remember, take take the road less travelled...

Well, they're finally mounted and the ride height is dialed in where it'll be for a bit.
These are BBS e50's - 3 piece magnesium motorsport wheels
The rears are 15x8 et10 or 12 with 185/55 rubber
The fronts are 15x6 et10 or 12 with 165/45 rubber
Rotor swap in front and ISP West rear-hub with re-drilled drums in rear.

In the immortal words of the great Zap Brannagan: "sweet, sweet candy, Bam!"
Those are sweet. Just plain sweet. Did you order those from BBS or just collect the parts over time?
P.S. thanks for the eye candy. _________________ ~Remember, take take the road less travelled...

I had to look up to see who Zap Brannagan was Thank you, the centers and the inner halves were manufactured in 1978, while the outer halves are new from BBS to fit my application.
I wanted to go with a motorsport-y feel with the fasty and I think it's getting there. _________________ Type 3 Fasty |

Yeah, I am a big Futurama fan. Zap is a classic character. I didn't mean any offense, cuz he is a somewhat ridiculous character. I love the direction you're taking with the fasty. I am putting my stock brakes back together for now, while I collect parts for the Porsche conversion.
You're in Maryland, right Raf? How far from the DC area? I will need a good machine shop when the time comes, and I am curious if you know of any....
Cheers and keep it coming. The car looks great. I loved you're square too. _________________ ~Remember, take take the road less travelled...

So just wondering what else besides narrowing has to be done to get the 17" brm's under a type 3. Does anything have to be cut? Like inner fender wells, headlight buckets, floor pans? I'd love to get a look under some of these big wheel cars just to see what hs been done. Here's an example. Are there any pics of this being built?

No plans for it. The camber on the compression stroke allows the tire to clear the rolled fenders. _________________ Type 3 Fasty |

Those 17" berms are 7" wide, with the right offset they will fit with no clearancing. I have 215's on the back and 205's on the front and zero rub (minus full clock).[/quote]
I was looking at the ones cip1 has but they just have 1 option, 17"x7". I thought for sure you would have to cut into the inner wheel wells to get them under there. How about when it's down like in the pic. I think I read you got an air beam but does it hit then when it's just sitting there? |
