GMN,
Thanks for your input. So you are saying that with:
Short Axles
1 inch drum spacers in the rear
Empi wide 5 disc kit rear
205 tyres
You STILL sometimes hit the plates on the inside or the body? How low are you running? Any pics of the car?
From what I can read the CB and Empi rear disc are zero offset if they come with the e-brake, non e-brake kits add an inch each side. |
I have the the kit with the e-brake......the tire only touches the spring plate when doin heavy cornering. I only know its happening because i smell burnt tire after a heavy turn...its not bad tho. Other than that no problems at all.
Thanks for the comments on the car.....i jus cleaned out my photobucket account and all my pics were removed from this topic. _________________ 64 Beetle |

I just bought my 67 back with the Escras. 4" narrowed beam with dropped disc brakes up front. I had to the adjust the steering stop out quite aways so the rim wouldn't hit the control arm. Has anyone came up with a solution to have a better turning radius? _________________ Save a tree eat a beaver |

Beginning the fitment of the 17" Raders now. They fit perfect on my IRS pan as long as the wheels are perfectly straight. Doesnt rub the buckets or anything, but once I turn at low heights, the buckets hit, the through rod clamp nut hits and the fender with a 4" beam. I'm on Monroes in front.
4" Airkewld Beam
Monroe Air shocks
EMPI Disc Brakes (Front)
Ghia Rotors (Rear)
Aired Out...

What tyre sizes are you running there? Looks great!
Same question here for the '54
Set up is:
- 4" beam,
- CB 2.5" drop spindles front with matching Wide 5 discs
- JerFab 2.5" drop plates rear with CB wide 5 discs
Wheels are 17"x7" ET20, so clear the rear springplates without issue.
I'm thinking:
195 40 R17 FRONT
205 50 R17 or 45 or 40 profile REAR
I don't want silly stretch on the front, so will be staying away from anything slimmer than 185 40. I also realise I can't slam it silly with 17" x 7" so happy to run a 'guard clearing' height.
Sound ok? It's the rear sidewall height that i'm really unsure of. _________________ www.dinography.com.au - Dino!

these are obviously not raders, but i run 195/40's up front and 205/50's out back... 4 inch beam up front with drop spindles (ET40 on the wheels though)...

Thanks for that, most appreciated
I ended up choosing 195 40 17 front and 205 45 17 rear. Getting fitted tomorrow, so hopefully will look good! _________________ www.dinography.com.au - Dino!

I'm running 205/40's all around. Might end up going a little smaller up front possibly at a later date, not quite sure yet. _________________ Thinking comes from not knowing... |

GR pulls his ad here when he is out of stock. He did answer emails before when he was out of stock though. Never tried calling so I don't know about that. |

FYI... The seller may be in the US... but the wheels come from Argentina or another country in South America as soon as you purchase them.... shipped directly to you. |
