That looks odd, notchboy. But it has its own character.
This is an interior of a 63 Type 3 on a notchback. (taken from the1500club.com):

Question: Until when did Volkswagen use the push-button lights and wiper swtches on the Type 3? |
Red- needle gauges and pushbutton switches until May, 1964. The dealers had an "upgrade" kit that they installed with a plate and two push- pull switches to replace the pushbutton units when they went bad, so it's possible to find push- pulls retrofitted on an earlier car. Also, "N" models had push-pull switches from the beginning (August, 1963) if I recall. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

So mid 65 til the end of the 66 model year, or half way though 1966. August to August.
EDIT: Or was it July? |
If you're talking about the Pigalle, Teak, and the elusive Azure interiors, they were the first few months of 1966 model year only- August- Dec. 1965, if I recall. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

jack-nope sorry buddy, but she has mine. I spoke with her maybe 2 months ago.
DONG- yes the Oz cars had-have different interiors. Up to 63 they are the same as the German ones with the wheel on the RT side. In 64 they made their own with a picture of the salt and pepper 61-63 type on vinyl. It lasted till 65. After that Im not sure.

Volkswagen should not have changed that push-button style. It really looked cool and classy. But as the saying goes, "Time is changing, and with the people around it." _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

That is realy cool, Notchboy. And, the TYPE 3 Badge for the Australian Type 3's is very neat and cool too. _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Henceforth, Pigalle Teak and Azure interiors are in a way very unique. Right? _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

What other colors if any, did the dash covers come in? Besides red for the Pigalle interior. What is this Azure interior of which you speak? Was the dash cover blue? or black? Same with the Teak. Other than photos here on Samba I have seen no other colors besides Black and Red. Any pics out there? _________________ Different Strokes for Different Volks

The teaks were all teak, and the azure (blue) were all blue, just like the Pigalle. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Out of all of them, I've seen more pigalles than teaks, and out of that just two teaks, and for the azures, well I've never seen one of them. That's how rare they are and out of that the pigalles are rare, so what does that tell you? _________________ '62 golfblau Typ 311 Limousine

Here is a pic of my 64 RHD 'Oz' Notch OG rear seat interior. I'll try to post a pic of the fronts soon.

Is that so, Tram? Now I know what to look for. But my big problem is that whether there were Type 3's with pigalle, teak and azure interior that had in exported to the Philippines. And that is another mission for me. Thanks! _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Now that is a very clean interior with the so-called 'Oz" Notch OG. Is that the original of the repro? _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;
