Now that is a very clean interior with the so-called 'Oz" Notch OG. Is that the original of the repro? |
This is the interior it left the factory with...this car sat in a shed in Adelaide Australia for 26 years before I bought it...it's pretty well preserved. The OG paint is wearin' thin in spots, but it has a nice patina about it. The front seats and headliner are equally as nice. _________________

That's bone-stock! No such thing as repro on this kind of interior (salt and pepper), I've never seen or heard of anyone that has the ability to duplicate it to original. _________________ '62 golfblau Typ 311 Limousine

I'd be interested in knowing who originally made the material for Volkswagen. It looks as though the embossed portion where the lower (salt & pepper) meets the upper (cloud white) is actually a 'melted' seam...no sewing. The only sewn part appears to be where the beading ties the sides to the back and seat portion...I'm sure this was a very inexpensive way to mass produce these. The door panel material is made the same way. Perhaps there is someone out there who is familiar with the manufacturing methods used on these...I too believe they would be a big hit if able to be reproduced. _________________

Mike Fisher and RHD Notch, actually, I am thinking of doing that together with the Pigalle, teak and azure. But, then again, this is just a plan. But, honestly, I feel like duplicating the pigalle for my '66 Fasty. _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

I wouldn't doubt it. Aussie cars tended to be "retro" in a lot of areas. In USA, those panels and armrests were '66- '67, in Europe they were as late as '69. So, those parts being original to an Australian production '71 wouldn't surprise me one bit. We really need to get a research team going that can trace Aus/ NZ Type 3 evolution and options. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

That is odd, Tram. In that case, I think someone from Aurtralia must continuously posts some pictures of original interios of Type 3's found downunder so that everyone on the Samba will be informed.

Thanks. I miss that car. It went to Japan four years ago. |

What other colors if any, did the dash covers come in? Besides red for the Pigalle interior. What is this Azure interior of which you speak? Was the dash cover blue? or black? Same with the Teak. Other than photos here on Samba I have seen no other colors besides Black and Red. Any pics out there? |
The teaks were all teak, and the azure (blue) were all blue, just like the Pigalle. |
Out of all of them, I've seen more pigalles than teaks, and out of that just two teaks, and for the azures, well I've never seen one of them. That's how rare they are and out of that the pigalles are rare, so what does that tell you? |
Anyone have a picture of a Type 3 with Azure interior? Also has anyone seen or have pictures of a Fastback with cloth interior instead of the leatherette? Everyone I have seen has the leatherette. _________________ - 66 Pigalle Square

No full azure around... that anyone knows about. Just interior pieces and a few records of them being made. _________________
