5 inches narrowed custom made with adjusters, no shocks originally, but i modified brackets on the fenderwell to attach link pin shocks.
2.5 in dropped spindles with flipped and narrowed tie rods.
rear is custom made 3 inch dropped spring plates, RAISED 1 inner spline.
tires are front 145/65/15.... rears are 185/60/15s
front beam is adjusted almost as low as it can go, and it's sitting 1.5 inches off the ground.
rear fender height this evening on 32PSI.
front fender height today on 30PSI.
all in all, this boy scrapes on most high spots in the road. i go around speed bumps because i KNOW i will drag at least 3/4 of the pan. the suspension bounces soft and i feel it all. i am using short '65 link pin shocks all the way around. the rear shocks bottom out when i dump the clutch quite often. i think i can rid of the extra bounciness if i can find a same length stiffer link pin shock, but right now i have higher priorities that spending more $$ chasing a softer ride.
and I'm ok with that.
That's what I wanted when I built, not bought this car.
oh yeah, when you run this low... it's quieter if you cut these guys off...

I have a 55' Bug with a 6" Narrowed Beam with disc brakes and Raders. I am currently running 165/45 up front, to small of tires for my taste. I want to get a little more tire under me that might help lift it up about 1" without rubbing (I will also raise it up one click in the front to get a little more ground clearance if needed).
With two people in the car I bottom out a lot and mostly hit my front apron on big dips and not my beam. What tire would you suggest, 155/60, 145/65, or 135's. Or is there another tire that will not rub that you might suggest.

How many inches has your's been lowered in the front and back? It looks really great! Sorry if you've already said; I'm fairly new to this whole thing. Also, do any of you know how low I'd be able to lower my '70 Standard without the back wheels getting flared out? I'm not too big a fan of that look. Thanks! |

Can I ask-where did you get the sealed bearings for the rear. I've been searching for them! |

So I've scrolled through 28 pages on this thread and can't seem to answer my own question so I will throw it out there. Call me whatever you want but I just want to know if I can run 195/65 15 on my 1964 that is stock height and has the stock wheels and is daily driven about 50 miles a day. I at least want to run them in the back. I would like to run them all around but I think they might rub when I turn if I put them up front. So I was thinking the 195/65's in the rear and the 165/80's in the front. I am truly amateur with this so if you want to lace in to me with how dumb of an idea this is feel free. If this is the wrong place to ask this also let me know. |
