Absolutely gorgeous car, man.

It's rare to see another Beetle with a 6-inch narrowed beam, and even more rare to see one running 145's on the front. How far can you turn the wheel before the tires rub on the inner fenders?

I'm looking to put some cool looking classic wheels on my T34. I Love your wheels, what rims are they?

Thor Orr, I did read the description, I even felt dumb writng the post, but I just wanted to make sure they are stock VW wheels, not after market smoothies. I did not ralise that some VW wheels don't have holes in them.

I'm building a 68 Bug for racing at Bonneville in the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association's 130 MPH Club. For the salt, I have a set of VW wheels with Hoosier Drag Racing Front Runners mounted. As I want to also take my car to the Colorado Mile, Texas Mile and Ohio Mile, I need to replace the wheels and tires with a 17" wheel on which I can mount speed rated street tires. Does any company sell any reasonably priced, simply functional, wheels in a 4-lug, 17" diameter??? I can't use any adapters of any kind...The wheels have to bolt up directly to the rotors.

17" + 4 Lug is hard. If they were 5x205 that would be easy. Better check out http://www.airkewld.com/4-Lug-Smoothie-17-Inch-Wheel-p/9003.htm

Not cheap though.

Just get a set of rotors (or drums) drilled to a more common size. I have 17x7" on my 65 with 205x40 front and 225x45 rears. Actually, I don't like the look anymore and they are up for sale.

See my post on page 9 of this thread for pics.

How is the car lowered ? Just spindles in front ?

Is it still ok to take a short turn ? Do the wheels rub the wheel arch ?
