I found this safety triangle in the spare tire well of a 60 Beetle that I sold. Who knows how many previous owners have missed seeing it. The sheath it was in was rust colored and so was the bottom of the spare tire well. It is dated 11-9-1959.
Anyone have one or know anything about these?

I found a mouse nest and a petrified/mummified mouse at the front of the tunnel. He seemed to be happy living there but had to move out when I replaced the shifter bearing.

My 71' transporter came with an old Darth Vader Starwars figure under the bench... with his cape! My 74' camper came fully stocked with silverware, plates, cups, sugar, matches, an old Grateful Dead mirror thing, harmonica, asprin, socks....Pretty much everything this kid who was living in there left. I bought it from a guy who put a Ford V6 in it as a project with his son. His son drove it around the country then died from a disorder. It sat in his field for 7 years when he decided to get rid of it. Listed for $650 and he talked me down to $350, I think he liked me as I was hobbled and planning on living in it myself. After a new coil and battery it started right up. Also came with multiple mummified mice fused with the bus requiring large amounts of excursion just to peel them up. Great guy, Great bus. I wish I still had his # so I could tell him about all the adventures I had in it. |

In a 70 bus i had 25 years ago, i found it a 12" channelock pliers and a very old 8" vise grip behind the front toe kick panel. To this day they are still on my "most frequently used tool" list. |

i didnt find anything good in mine, just some pennies, a fishing permit from '95, and an extremely rusty ignition key in the bottom of the driver side door. |

This is a fun thread.
Back around '88 I bought an east coast '59 to part out. It was rusted beyond repair, I could see 3 tires sitting in the drivers seat. The running boards where only attached to the fenders, there where even rust holes in the rain gutters. But in the glove box I found all the receipts for the car between 1962 and when it was parked after an accident in 1974.
It has a rebuilt exchange engine installed 1974 just 6000 miles before it was wrecked. It was a 36HP engine with '57 block. It was the main reason I bought the car. After chasing the mice out of the fan shroud and rebuilding the distributer and carb it ran great. I ran it until warm and changed the oil about 1/2 a dozen times to clean out the insides and the rings freed up and the smoking went away. Of course, it wasn't worth much back then but the motor paid for the car and the other parts where profit. I also found an old Bus nosecone in it (it had a tunnel transaxle installed at some point.) |

I've had 23 VW's in my time and I would say I have found a roach in about 80% of them One even had the alligator clip still on it. _________________ Wife says "You should spay and neuter your VW's so they quit reproducing"

All i know is that someone on the assembly line had a sore throat that day cause i found a German cough drop wrapper sandwiched between the sound deadening tar board and the floor tin under the luggage area behind that back seat in a 74 Type 1. Lekkerland Hustenkräuter was the name on the wrapper.
Oh and wasps nests. |

Pulled the carpets from my '62 and found a stop sign, 55 speed limit signs, and an old tin lunch tray all where the passenger floor was supposed to be _________________ Click to view image |

I found stashed USED syringes in the roof of my 54 Chevy when I was chopping it! As soon as the roof was off, me and a buddy shook them all out. Bought the car from a buddy and his neighbor was known to dabble in the drug dispensing. _________________ Cars are like Pokemon...gotta catch em all

Almost forgot...sold that 54 Chevy to a 16 kid then bought it back from him 4 years later. When I began to install my newly chopped vent windows, I found a back pack in the door...filled with used condoms
My Chevy is kinda gross really _________________ Cars are like Pokemon...gotta catch em all
