Fun thread...

In a split window bus I got in a trade, I found a bowl with a clay Ernie (from Burt and Ernie) sculpted around the stem/mouthpiece (yeah... THAT kind of bowl).

In my 70 Beetle, I found a little stack of dealer maintenance stickers, all stuck together (I know they're original because the name and address on the original dealer maintenance book matches) and a ring. I gave the ring to my daughter. It's nothing expensive, just a cool ring of silver and stone or shell.

In my first Volkswagen - a Super Beetle which I bought for $4000 in 2001 - I found holes in the floorpan, body, fenders, heater boxes and heater channels! Surprise!

I found an interior door handle insert in my squareback, which was nice because I already had two but one was in really bad shape. Now I have two good ones!

When I started going through the '72 Super that I rescued from a grove of pine trees, there was an "eat more possum" plate in the glove box. Didn't find any possums in it, but our cat had a lot of fun with the family of mice that had taken up residence.

Found an old American Airlines booklet with flight tickets, a reciept, insurance stuff, and some other paperwork from 1992. The trips was from New Jersey to Greensboro, NC (I'm just south of Raleigh, NC). Pretty neat

I paid $300 for a '72 Bug cause I needed an engine. While I was busy pulling the engine, my son popped open the hood and found a complete VW Hazet tool kit.

Found a book on learning to sail under the drivers seat of my Syncro. Would love to sail the 7-seas some day. Maybe it's a sign. Hmmm.

Found the home made front headliner full of dog food and mouse shit. Took a few showers to get that combo out of my hair. (Kind a like tootsie there will take a few scotches to get rid of that nightmare)

in removing my door windows, regulators, vent wing windows and trim, inside the door, I found this miniature H.S. Diploma dated May 28, 1965. Now, I realize there's no guarantee that MY '66 was a graduation gift for a young girl in '65, but that would make a good story! Razz

You should track her down, shouldn't be too hard with her name, name of school and graduating year. She might like a note about the car.

I exchanged several letters and pictures with the PO of my car, she was very happy to hear about the car.

Speaking of, and not as weird as some of the previous posts. I found a DM in the glove box, put there by the original owner when the car was new; for luck (I'm the third owner).

Later I found some more coins under the floor mats:

They tell a history of the car, it was sold new in Germany (in Feb '97) and has been to France, I bought it in the UK and imported it to Canada in 2012.
I keep all the coins in the car.
