I bought a 68 fasty in vegas, sold to a friend, he called me and said, "you tring to set me up." i had no idea what he was talking about, He sent me a picture on my phone of a fancy brass pipe(bong for smoking tabacco im sure) 2 or 3 clips (for jumping electrical wires) and a bag of old weed.(yard clippings im sure)
All under the rear seat. We got a good laugh before we threw it all away, yea....yea... thats it threw it away I got a pic if i can figure how to get it off my phone. Thats about the only thing cool I have found in a vw. I usually find my self broke in a vw but that is a different story. _________________ 1957 Oval Rag |

Back when I was in college, a pound of mexi brick could be moved for $1k each, which was around 1990. Seeds and all. x14 = $14k.
That would buy you alot of funky green panels.

My brother the cop tells me weed is about $200/ounce or $1,200/lb on the street these days.
That's $44,800 @ retail, $16,800 wholesale, or about $28,000 profit. _________________ Everything known to man has been written.

$50 for an 1/8
$100 for a 1/4
That makes it $400 retail on an ounce. Usually can get one for under $350.
1/4 lbs at $1200
LB at like $3500 if you're lucky.
We're talking modern, commercially (for retail) grown buds. Not schwag.
Current market value. _________________ All your Buses are belong to us.

25 years later, this is the where we're at with "war on drugs". locally grown, higher quality weed, more expensive than ever, bigger profits for growers. _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

I'd have to give it a value of a $0. and 0 cents. It cracks me up about how many people on how many different threads went off on the value of some 25yr old + weed that was so dry and so brown, and well pretty worthless. The seeds would just crumble in your hand. It was really old stuff. Yeah it is a good story and I enjoyed sharing it with every one but to try and put a high $$ value on something like that is a waste of time.
Let me tell you what happened to the pot. I didn't quite know what to do with it at the time. Live in a close neighbor hood so burning it no matter how old it was, was definately going to reek. Couldn't put it in the trash, cause what is the trash man going to say when they find it in my can, and I wasn't going to drive around with it in my car, cause no matter how worthless it was if something happened how do you explain 15lbs of weed in your car.
So, I eventually called the cops and turned it in. Yes in the back of my mind I was worried they were going to try and take my bus, it being a small town and all, but it was really rather simple.
I called the police they dispatched a cop and had them call me. I told them what and how I found it, that I just wanted the stuff gone, where I lived, and when I would meet them. They just kind of laughed. A police woman showed up, didn't even turn off the cop car asked me a few basic questions, whet back to here car to put on rubber gloves and get some evidence bags (paper grocery bags) and stacked it all in there. I asked her what I should do with the pound or so I had to vacuum out with the shop vac and she said "Just throw it in the trash can, it is worthless. We are just going to burn this stuff anyway."
They ended up weighing out what they collected in the evidence bags at 15.9lbs.
So that is what happened to the pot. The number of replys I got from this thread, and the possible articles and interviews in magazines was highly amusing. We'll just have to see who if any prints what.
The bus well it is still under destruction. I have the bus stripped down, the lower nose cut out, waiting on some funky green for it, The right b pillar cut out, and most of the metal work done. Then it is body panel fitting time and off to the blasters for the chassie and other no warpable pannels and then to be primed for body work. It will be dove blue again with business logo's in a 50's style for my bus, but lowered about 31/2inches with probably a 2110. I already purchased some early safaris just looking for a lower high hinge for my leading p-side door. Some early bus headlight buckets and rings for my barndoor lenses, inner support for my deck lid,an early blaupunkt radio, and I og safari glass and og safari glass seals.
So there you have it
Happy building

Great story.
Interesting, the number of folks who thought this stuff would have had any value.
Looks like 70's/80's weed, which didn't have much value to begin with. Compressed kilos on the U.S. side of the Az border in the 70's went for about $60-100. Be surprised if he paid more than 20 on the other side.
The day it was packed in there the quality wouldn't have been very good anyway. Dried in the sun by the campesino's, then compressed, which ruptures the resin sacs, the exposure to oxygen, and the Arizona heat, changes thc to rapidly to non-psychoactive crap weed virtually worthless within 2-3 years. _________________ One of these days I'm gonna settle down,

Working alot on the bus. Bought all of my seals, mats, interior. Speedo just got restored. Have almost all of the needed sheet metal. Working on welding in some of the panels now. Got rear pressed bumper. The front is getting straightened as we speak. Many parts are at the powder coat shop. More parts and seat frames will go in in 2 weeks. Wheels have new clips on them and are at the powder coat shop as well. Got some OG safari windows will be installing them the dealer way soon. Got a very lightly uses OG steering wheel. In the next few months will purchase my engine, tires, get my trans rebuilt, buy some misc drive train parts and have it in the body shop for finish body work and paint. Then start on the hand painted logos. This is planning on being a work bus for my business.
Have you been working on your bus? |

Hilarious that you have to drop this kind of $$$. Up here (Canada) the prices are roughly 1/2 of those....suckaz... _________________ Wanted: flipseat parts: rear jump seat, folding chair, cups |
