I’ve searched and searched to no avail..has anyone ever seen an engine code like this?

Well let’s just say “not factory applied”..?
Usually an X means eXchange, but I can’t even tell if that’s what that is supposed to be…
Doesn’t really make sense because a normal D case is a small bore 1200cc late featured case that has dual relief, cam bearings, etc. that a normal 1200 doesn’t have. A D1 case would be built in the 70’s sometime IIRC.
That is a much older 36hp case, so no clue what they were up to…?

It does have all original crank start tins and pully nut..not sure if that helps in dating at all? It came in a project sept 57 built single cab..
