hey all,
on my 61 panel there is no rear view mirror. No holes for it either so it wasn't removed by PO. the rear window is big enough to warrant the use of a mirror. was this an option? when did it become standard? is it a good idea to instal one? i would like to have one for backing up and looking for 6up on my back
thanks

On a commercial vehicle the interior rearview mirror was typically dealer-installed or omitted altogether.

My 59 did not have one, nor holes for it.

I put one in, I felt like I was driving blind without it.

my 60 standard has no rear view mirror and no holes for one. I wish it had the holes. What's the law for rear view mirrors anyway? (in Texas?)

My ambulance has an inside rear-view mirror, which makes absolutely no sense - there's no way to see out the back anyway!

My '60 dd panel did not have one.

Just cause you cant see them in your rear view mirror, doesnt mean they arent behind you, coming to get you!

My 1957 kombi has the pretty standard aftermarket mirror that they used a long time ago; the one made out of pot metal. It is mounted on the bottom of the fresh air vent housing. My 1958 walk thru camper (originally a panel) and my 1958 walk thru kombi have the same setup. My 1963 walk thru camper (originally a panel) has the standard chrome plated mirror, which is mounted at the top of the windshield pillar.

I got pulled over in Texas and asked why I didn't have a mirror there. I told the cop that it didn't come with one. After he crawled into the passenger seat to look for himself (and sniff everything out) he let me go. He told me I needed to get one. Then he told me he had never sat in a Bus before...he thought it was pretty cool...but get a mirror! Shame on you

Depending on the build date of your '55 it would look like this.
