Transmission whirling noise in reverse-Any ideas?

I've read all related posts and cannot figure this one out.
A whirling noise (and a bit of a shudder) happens when the reverse is engaged. Backs up fine but the noise is there if gear is engaged and I coast backwards. If I back up and then take out of reverse gear to coast backwards, no noise. It's almost like the noise and shudder you get when you down shift into a lower gear but you are going too fast.

Checked mounts, bowden tube bend and they look fine.

Appreciate any ideas on this one.

Reverse is a non-synchronized gear. It's going to make noise...

Interesting. I have had 2 previous Things and never encountered such a noise and shudder. Apprears to come from the tunnel, but maybe that is just echoing through there.
Could there be something wrong with that gear as I don't have alot of history from the previous owner concerning the transmission?

All thoughts appreciated.
