Okay, I have two questions:
One, I'm getting a back fire when I let off the gas. There is a hole in the muffler which, I am told could cause this. Any other thoughts?
Two, there is a little flat metal box about the size of a cigar tin just to the left rear of the engine. It looks like it is part of the exhaust system. It is riddled with rust and holes. What is this and would it cause backfiring? |

| That box is either part of the EGR valve or catalytic system, I'm not sure. It is an emissions item that can be removed though, unless you live in California... |
