I hope this happens this year. Right now my bus's engine is sitting right behind it but I should be back up and running (with a 15 gallon tank!) by the end of this week. _________________ 1966 Velvet Green Standard |

Wish I were able to do Hull Mt. again this year, but I'm working to make SST and am currently en route back to Afghanistan. |

This is prolly my single most fav' VW event. I've a fleet of vintage trailies ready to go. Was planning on throwing a bike on the back of Cocoa the panty dropper ( Shorty DC ) but I thought it would be a good idea to break in the SP stroker engine in it with an attempted wheelie. The outcome was it spun and hopped it's fat rear tires, spit it's rear main seal and proved positive you realy can destroy a new throw out bearing in 20 minutes run time. That's right folks, I'm a genius!!!!
Brian, so stoked on those models, huge thank you!!! OK, here's the deal, one thing that kinna bothers me is when I see you running the car/s on a twin stick transmitter. This bothers me till no end, it may or may not be propper as I can't remember. None the less, it bothers me....LOL I'd like to remedy this by giving you my " Can't lose " radio My Airtronics Caliper FM radio. I remember when the then latest greatest M8 digital radio came out and lots o folks got rid of their Caliper in favor the M8, only to find out it ate batteries by the case. Any who, start collecting FM recievers, less glitch is the way to go!!! |

Whoa! I'm trying to stay in the early 1980s on the RC car program and rocking the pathetic stick controllers is the only proper way. Please don't be offended, but I must decline the Airtronics radio as it would not fit in my pure collection of vintage Futaba equipment; similar to a Bay window bus on the Shasta Trip... not fly.
Would love to visit though, and see all the remnants from your days gone by of RC Geekdom -would wish for you to find that spark again. You know what they say: "Once a geek, always a geek!" |

Whoa I have been into RC cars since 1976 or so. (Yeah Iam old) If you want to stay old school and have a steering wheel controler, we used to use a Futaba wheel controler with a Parma slot car pistol grip mounted on the back. Still in the RCs but no more racing for me, into the scale off-road events. I will post up a few pictures of my latest rig. Too much fun. |

Geez, guys, now you're making me want to go dig my RC-10 out of my parents' garage (which I got for my 10th birthday) and get it running again! _________________ 9th Owner of a 1971 Tintop Westy

Stoked to hear I'm not the only one shamelessly geeking on toy cars again. I find half the fun in the hunt for parts (much like our VWs) as these old cars are all unique and not replicated by anything I've seen today. More to the point though, they're a big piece of my best times as a kid, and when the controller is in my hands and my face is in the dirt to get that realistic viewpoint, man, there's no other geek hobby like it!
Big Bill, either the moderators kanked your scale car pictures, or your uploading method is needing some tweaking. I'm looking forward to what it is you're doing though for sure. When I'm home, you're just up the road from me, I'm in Santa Rosa all the time.
Good seeing you at Busfest Taylor, and especially fun hearing the story about your original RC 10 from your child hood! KEEP THAT CAR! The same goes for you Crofty, even though Tamiya has re-released The Frog, your cars hold memories that some day (as in my case with my Kyosho Assault) will mean an awful lot more to you that they may today. BTW, I have a full set of Frog/Grasshopper tires and wheels (stock sand paddle tread on back) that I would be happy to turn over to you if you would like. That RC 10... man, I think they sold more of them than Tamiya did with the Frogs! They just kept evolving.
Anyway, yeah, the RC car program is cool, and... one of the cool things about A Hull Of A Campout... is you can BRING THE RC CARS!!! LOL! Don't forget the RC boats, the RC planes, and machine guns, minibikes, fishing gear, etc. Lake Pillsbury is a haven for all kinds of fun.
Who else is into cool toys? Bring em' up to Hull Of A Campout! Please post pictures of your toys, fishing gear, RC stuff, dirt bikes and all that fun stuff that keeps us alive and that you might take up there!
Fan that phony adult responsibility shit, it's time to play! SMART!!! : ) |
