I cannot get gas pliers to turn the large two-sided nut that holds the assembly to the door. Any suggestions? There’s not much room because the nut is shallow and it’s right up against the window frame. Maybe a different type of wrench?

Grind down the correct size wrench (make it as thin as you can). |

What's gas pliers? I've never had issues with mirror R&R on my 1971 Convertible, just protect the paint with masking tape.
I would typically remove the arm from the mount first.

Channel lock pliers. I’ll try the grinding down a wrench.
Thanks! |

I've heard them referred to as waterpump pliers.
Channel lock is a brand name , not a type.
Slip joint pliers. _________________ "Albatross"! |
