so that expensive noise i heard was the #4 intake valve stuck open. i pulled the valve cover and persuaded it back to normal, but yet again it stuck.
i noticed when i pull the V/C there was smoke in there.
and there was only a little bit of oil in the head. idk if its supposed to be like this or fill up to a certain level.
when i first got the motor (1600 dp) the #1 intake was stuck open. i pulled the head and flicked it and it went back down and hasnt acted up since.
so im debating
A)rebuild my heads
B)buy rebuilt heads
C)buy new heads
any suggestions? _________________ Sponsored by Search Tool

i'm considering.
i dont want to have to pull heads for a long time so i want to solve the problem completely 100%.
as for the oil/smoke issue in the heads? _________________ Sponsored by Search Tool

Pull them and get em rebuilt if they are good. Dual or Single Port?? New Single ports are tough to find, new D/P's easy to find. You still need to disassemble and check everything though... ... Tim _________________ Tim's ACVW Engine/Trans Service |

Was the engine warmed up when you pulled the valve cover? Most likely oil vapor, normal. _________________ burning down the house

yeah she was warmed up.
its a D/P.
all the other valves push down with even resistance, but the #4 intake goes down maybe 1/4 inch then freezes.
about how much does it cost to rebuild d/p heads (pair)? _________________ Sponsored by Search Tool

Either rebuild your heads or buy new heads before you punch a hole in a piston. |
