Here I was thinking that at least the 181- numbered rear drum from Germany was going to have 14mm holes. (Don't stock Thing drums all take 14mm bolts?) Well, the new rear drum I just got from cip.1 have 13mm holes, and so do the fronts, which I guess I should have expected since they're same as Beetle (or Ghia?)?
Here's my question--can I simply buy a complete set of 13mm bolts? (Which I suppose are Beetle or bus bolts?) Will they still fit my stock Thing wheels?
I ASSUME the Thing was originally designed with robust 14mm bolts for heavier-than-Beetle use, and now, I'll have to wimp it down . . .
Chime in fellow Thingers. Am I OK with just getting a set of 13mm bolts?
Thanks,

Sorry, Thing had 12mm holes just like 5 lug Beetle. 14mm were for 4 lug cars. |

Yikes--it is entirely possible that I am totally cornfused.
I didn't actually measure a bolt I took off my Thing, but one of my "spares."
Hopefully maybe I have wrong sized spares? |

Bolts suck~~~~~~ wheel studs rock. INHO it is the 21st century, why use 19th century ideas..... replace all wheel bolt holes with studs. |

ditto on kubelwagen! Studs also make wheel changes easier... _________________ 1967 beetle
