That look like a lot of fab work, but the artist sketches look like a great mix of chop top cool and VW style. I would love to see you finish for the Invasion this year! Keep plugging away.

Cheers,

Josh

Been dong some more on the Sled lately.

Picked up a 50-51 Ford Dash panel recently and got it narrowed up and fit. Still need to finish welding it all in.

Looking sweet. Getting further and further from looking VW, but very cool nonetheless. Smile

Looking damn good John. Have you got it where it'll move on it's own yet? You've only got a little less than 2 1/2 months to get it rolling. Wink

hehehe....

I am looking for a 56 Mercury Montclair bumper for the front. Of course it will have to be narrowed up about 2-3 feet and some other mods, but I think it will work good.

Got some more done on teh bumpers tonight and decided it was time for an updated sketch of the Lead Sled project.....this is what I came up with.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Not sure about the color yet, so grey primer will have to do.

Beautiful concept. You should really try to get all that chrome on there, will set it apart from other lead sleds (as if the fact its a VW doesnt enough!), and give it a finished look...

Shiny black for paint?

ya know john... all along, i've thought the car needed the standard rear lenses for the 'fin' look. but, after seeing that beautiful concept wiht that bumper, i think it needs flat lenses to match the layed forward rear glass and the deck lid.
