Started this two weekends ago, finished last weekend. I replaced the factory speakers (one wasn't even connected) with Pioneer TS-D1002R that I bought on Amazon. I think they're the same model that GoWesty sells. I also added some Frost King to help reduce door noise. I think it has improved a little, but its difficult to tell when driving. The speakers definitely sound better.

Had new BFGs installed today. Despite the instructions I wrote on the work order, they mounted the tires with the white letters facing IN. Now I have to go back next week. Mad
They also put the weights on the outside of the rims - previously they were on the inside. Is it unreasonable to ask them to rebalance with the weights on the inside?

Buzzer for handbrake

Sometimes I forgot the handbrake and most of the times my wife forgot it too.. yeah, blame it to the design...the steering wheel blocks the red handbrake warning light...

so this small buzzer came to the rescue..

I got a Philmore 12V DC Buzzer - part # B812 at Fry's Electronics..

I pushed the wires in the handbrake warning light connector...

since the sound is quite loud I taped some insulation foam on the buzzer to bring down the sound to a more acceptable level.. - 5 min. job...

and no more handbrake ON when the van is moving...

After ten long years of milking a flaky clutch slave cylinder that usually needed several impromptu bleeds per year, I swapped in a new FTE brand. While I was down there, I also swapped in a new trans mount that I must've bought about eight years ago. Two deferred maintenance items I can finally cross off my bucket list.

I replaced the clutch master only ti discover that the slave is also leaking. The slave is not looking to be a fun job on a Syncro. Ugg.

I'm going to order the Burley braided hose and install that with the new slave.

Unreasonable? Absolutely NOT. They should have somebody there who can read a work order. I doubt they will argue with your request. Wink

Not to mention they have to rebalance the wheels in any event if they dismount the tires.

I was specific about my weights being on the inside so I didn't feel too bad asking for a re-do.

I'd reconsider the white letters out though. Might as well leave the weights if you go that route....

Hooked mine up to the back of my motorhome in prep for taking off south on Monday. Supposed to be rainy and snowy next few days.

Replaced my fuel lines today. This will be the last time until my Subby 2.5 swap next year.

I also started to install my new vacuum system for a future driveline disconnect.

We pulled out the syncro front diff and rebuilt it with new pinion bearing, new seals and a refilled VC. Should be good for a few more tens of thousands of miles!

Thanks to Syncroghia for all the technical stuff, expertise and special tools.

Plastidipped my upper grill and installed the South African lower I've been wanting for years.

Want some black bumper(s) next but that's down the list.

I stop by the shop today, IMPORT SERVICES and aRESTORATION in Smyrna, GA. Toby Bennin, John and Wade keep AC things going. They fiixed the oil leak coming from under the valve cover valve cover and replaced gaskets on both sides for good measure. One cover had been " straightened", dents removed somewhere along the way by the PO, so it was replaced with a good straight ,used one. This shop is a great place for anything air-cooled and they can fabricate what you need, too. Smile
On the 20 mile drive home I nearly ran out of gas, Embarassed pulled into a Valero station with R90 no ethanol gas and put 14 gallons in the tank and filled a 1 gallon spare, too. I've had a ticking lifter, use a little Marvels Mystery Oil ..the mystery is no mystery, mostly kerosene I think. But, the ticking comes and goes at idle and guess what? No tick! Runs smoother. Idles smoother, too. What's the scoop on No-Ethanol Question gas? I should have paid more attention in Chemistry class...but that was 43 years ago.. Rolling Eyes
Headed for the Blue Ridge Parkway soon with no worries now...oh, maybe I shouldn't have said that...
