Very interesting car. Note it has VW38 bumpers but is fitted with a wartime KdF license plate/brake light. According to Chris Barber (page 173) the VW had the license plate/brake light redesigned in 1939. Going by period photos it seems that some of the VW38 cars had the newer lights retrofitted. This picture may as well be of a VW38 taken, of course, in the war years as evidenced by the blacked out headlights.
