I'm not certain if this is a standard beetle or a deluxe having both chrome and painted trim. The photo is dated 3.3.51 and was taken at Maschsee Hannover. |

That would be my fault. I didn't have a scanner available so I took a picture of a picture. The angle combined with slightly curved edges on the photo make it appear as it does. I wanted to clarify this not only to point out the beetle is not modified but I also wouldn't want anyone to think the persons in the photo have fat calves and large feet . |

I'd say you're onto something there. Grooved bumpers and football mirror. (no horn grilles in fenders etc.) It has painted hubcaps and bumpers like a standard but I noticed not just the chrome side trim per deluxe but wiper arms, headlight bezels and hood handle are all chrome. |
