The first photo is the V1 prototype at the Porsche Villa in Stuttgart.
The second photo is the 1936 prototype with the 1935 prototype (V1) pictured in Italy with Ferry Porsche (person on the left). The cars were driven down for an Italian grand prix. The car following behind is (I believe) an Auto Union support vehicle. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Wartime KdF-Wagen photos
It looks like it could be Ferdinand Porsche behind the wheel. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

The first photo is of the 1936 V3/1. It is taken at the Porsche Villa though. The lower photo shows the same car V3/1 and in front of it is the V3/3 also from the batch of 3 cars built in 1936. The V3/3 was the first all steel construction prototype. |

I WAS CLOSE!
Those blasted prototypes. They all look the same!
We now redirect your attention toward the Brandenburg Gate.

"Happy Labor Day"
And speaking of labor, here's an amazing photo of German mechanics of a Stuttgart Constabulary unit with Military Police Beetles in 1947/48.
(I think this was taken at Kelly or Patch Barracks?)
Note: Highly polished Nitro-Lack finishes which are U.S. Army O.D. Green with White painted bumpers.
I want to think Jean-Marie Verhulst for this photo.
Tom
P.S. Most certainly the photo was taken with a Leica camera with a Elmar 35mm lens stopped down, the sharpness and contrast are fantastic, it's almost as if you could reach out and grab some tools out of that toolbox down i the lower right.....wondering if there's more photos of these proud Germans out there? _________________ OG PAINT L331 1957 TYPE 1 OVAL WINDOW

That figures......doesn't matter what army you're in, they still take the Beetle out to joyride the Fräuleins! :p
