An interesting photo, pressumably taken during some miserable winters day in the Netherlands, if the Beetle's country (NL) & number plates are a true indicator. That would have been an almost brand new car, if the photo was taken in 1952.

What is the large, mid 1930's, Austin, London Taxi, with London registration BLB 725 doing there. in an almost deserted street, save the Postman on his tricycle?

If you look the split's rear lights, they have wide chrome rings? So pre 49 car?

Does anyone know what license plate this is?

1951 Standard Beetle, originally issued June 51 to the British Army, 151 Vehicle-Coy Lipstadt, and registered as S 419 BZ (British Zone). Does anybody know what the S 419 element of the number plate relates to?

Registered in the UK 1957 as ULF 21, and already converted to right hand drive by the time this picture was taken in 1960.

Despite owning the car for nearly 40 years, I have have only recently discovered, thanks to Facebook, where these pictures were taken, in Winterton on Sea, Norfolk, UK, where the houses in the background (holiday homes) are still the same today, as they were in 1960. In the lower picture, the owner at that time, Fred Wells, whom I met many years ago, and long since dead, stands proudly alongside his car.
