It's winter time and this meens storage for many of us northerners.
How many of you use fogging oil.
lf you use it do you spray it down the carb while running or squirt it directly in cylinders after removing spark plugs.
Also do you use stable in the gas?
Should the tank be full?
Any other winterizing tips? |

For what it's worth, my boat mechanic said to fog cylinders and put plugs back in. Also he recommended using fuel stabilizer all the time for the boat due to the fact it would sometimes go for months between use. That could also relate to a car driven only occationally. |

I run the recommended dosage of Sta-Bil in my gas tank (depending on how much is left) early enough in the season that I can drive through that tank, fill it up again, and add more Sta-Bil before putting the car away. You want to work that stuff through the whole system.
Fogging oil sounds like a good idea, but I never do it. _________________ 1974 Thing -- under the knife

I live in NE Iowa a few miles S of MN. border, I just make sure the gas tank is pretty close to full, disconnect the battery ground strap. Check the anti freeze (Ha Ha). Seriously those are the only two things I do for winter storage. 20 below not uncommon some days. If we get a decent day I'll sometimes go over and start her up and run til I get heat from the exchangers. Yep, even go for a drive some days in the snow!! _________________ "Lili Marlene"

Hey, n0limdon, I'm not too far away by Iowa standards, just down in C.R. I put some sta-bil in the tank, take the battery out, trickle charge it every month or so, hang a mothball pack from the steering wheel to annoy the mice, and dream about the next ragtop day. One thing I figured out, since I store it in the same garage that my wife and I park our one good car in, is hang some big corrugated cardboard sheets from the doors under the car cover. That way, when a door bangs into it, which it will, the paint survives.
It might not go into storage for a while now since it's the most reliable vehicle I have at my disposal. Plus, I'm dying to try it out on snow. _________________ You get what you get, and you don't throw a fit.
