Thanks so much for posting these. If I hadn't moved across the country 16 years ago, I would have been there.
I looked up John Chipps' obituary online, and it said he died in 2003 at age 91. However, the man in the photo wearing the hat looks exactly like him, and it's as if he hasn't aged a single day.
It could be the healthy farm life, but it's still like seeing a ghost. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

i have a bit to add to this story.
the roof clip from the red barndoor pickup is now in my possession is kansas city. it will be used to resurrect my 1954 single cab. it was brought down from canada to missouri around 30 years ago.
if anyone has any more pictures or information about that truck i would love to hear about it.

That's amazing that the John Chipps roof ended up with you. That's the best possible outcome.
I posted my old photos on page 2. I may have another photo of that truck kicking around.
