Its not super charged because for starters the hose that comes out of the smog pump only gose to the left carb and not the right. It should be a sealed system so there wouldn't be that style air filter on the carbs.

Every time this topic gets resurrected I'm going to post Tom Bruch's quote, which is a product of his extensive personal experience with these Smog Pumps:

Bvilletom wrote:
I would say it’s not going to pressurize much more than a 200cc 4 stroke motor because it can’t flow enough volume of air.

Maybe, finally the message will get through.

I wish the message would get through, but there are a few hanging on to a glimmer of hope that these are, or can be used as a supercharger on a VW. Maybe they have a few in the shed, and are waiting to cash in on them. Rolling Eyes

There is yet another one on E-bay right now claiming to be a 1940-50's VW supercharger that is worth $2000.00.

I'm sure there are. If you go back to page 2, I quoted Tom Bruch from a PM he sent me...it'll tell you all you need to know about these Smog Pumps: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3465596#3465596

I don't think anyone doubts that.........but they are not a supercharger for a VW. They never have been, and never will be.

None so blind as those who will not see...especially if you have 10 of those "superchargers" to sell. Wink

I live an a pretty windy area, and sometimes just the wind blowing against the carb side of my mower will rev it up a little. I wonder what a steady 4psi would do. Shocked
