It's the overall diameter, not the wheel size, that determines speedometer error. Stock tire is roughly 25.65" tall, your 205/75R15's are over 27" tall. _________________ 1974 Thing -- under the knife

Comparing the stock tire size of 185R14 to 205/75R15, your speedometer should read 5.7 percent too slow. That's assuming it was accurate to begin with.
There's a nifty online tire size calculator here.

Thanks guys my wife was following me home from our anual cruise to homeless shelter. She said i was going 80 mph at one point :p I guess my speedo is off cause it never said above 72. I never recall being able to go 80 mph in my thing before either. i guess rebuilding motor new pts cap etc etc and rebuilding carb makes car go faster :p A tuned thing is a happy thing _________________ 62 sc, 62 SO 34, 61 mango, (2) 67 deluxe in crappy shape, 73 thing, 64 ghia,

Make sure you've got some kind of temp sensor in there to ensure you're not cooking that new motor. I could top out at 84 MPH in my old T1 motor, but the engine would overheat pretty quickly. _________________ VW-181 shirts and stickers.
