The engine cover is no pinned to prevent float. Shift light is installed, a big oil pressure idiot light is going in, the roll hoop will be replaced with a 6 point cage and other things will be done as well.

I like it. Looks like you're almost done plumbing everything in place.
Is this still carbed? Or have you gotten the FI set up on? _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Blow through carbs. I still have to locate the water/methanol tank, the metering blocks, and the o2 sensor.
Also, I have to install the modified GM distributor with built in coil, mount the electric fuel pump, pressure regulator, gauges and design a new engine cover.
Then... new NHRA approved cage, belts, arm restraints, helmet and oil containment device.
I have until spring for all that to be done. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

I am probaby most disappointed that I can no longer use the engine cover John Jaranson designed and built for the car. It was exactly what I had wanted.
I have the old cover in the shop that I will turn into a template to see how much I have to cut away and reshape to fit over the turbo and BOV. From there, I'll be able to see if the c/f cover can be modified or if I have to start from scratch. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Why not change the header to one of these:
http://www.cbperformance.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=7301T
That's cheap for a header and will preposition the turbo down low. Then re-do the piping so the BOV is out of the way. With some planning, not much $$$ and a bit of welding, you could get all that to not much taller than the shroud.
Then you can use that super cool cover. . . Just a different idea. . . _________________ Regards,

A) it won't fit my space-- hard blockage down there to the cab.
B) already have the over the alternator header in ceramic coat.
3) I didn't know before I got the header that it was going to stick up that high... _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

I'm going to take a look at a complete re-route of the turbo plumbing to minimize what sticks out too high. I'm not confined to everything fitting between the shroud and the header... Sometimes I forget that. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Did not like the turbo placement verses the engine cover, so it is back out, for now.
Had to put the old mid-engine header back in. What a PITB! That puzzle was a mess, but the header is back in. Now I still need to hang the muffler/4-1 collector and reroute some oil lines. Then... Fire again and drive for the summer. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Have you gotten that 13 inches of pan cut out yet? You know John's gonna be out there soon enough. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

So, Gulf Blue and Orange will be it's new colors? Still didn't answer my other question. Did you get that 13 inches cut out of the pan? Or are you waiting for John to do it? _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

What pan? For the 356? It only needs 4.5 cut out _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Yes, the 356. Sorry, Rob told me it was 13 inches that needed to be removed, not 4.5 inches. Still, that's quite a bit of work to preform just to get it ready for the body to sit on it correctly. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I vote for the blue. The charcoal grey is a little bit plain for a car of that stature. _________________ I think he meant "rare", as in "not well-done" |

Agreed. The blue with some orange stripes will look great on it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
