So, who would be willing to purchase a video produced by yours truly illustrating how to do this yourself???

The recent serious success of my DIY TIV engines complete with all the specialty set up already done has been so great that I am contemplating doing this with the TI engine.. Basically developing a combination to the fullest, then disassebling it, reverse engineering and making a recipe for it to follow with kits...

Then re-assembling that same engine as part of my new video instructional series that I am working on all this year.

This would certainly prevent lots of mistakes from being made, showing how to inspect parts and put things together for the DIY kind of guy on a budget.

The best part would be the fact that it's 100% ready to unbox and assemble, all critical clearances pre set and nothing needed except a 100 piece craftsman tool set and a torque wrench...

We could go over tuning, external component selection and even show behind the scenes during the developmental stages of the kit and why we chose the components that we did...

This would not be for everyone, but with the new members of our hoby being vastly different, I feel this would be a welcome addition..

Jake.... DO IT.

There's plenty of people who want hi-po engines but due to the measuring and machining needed are unable to it right.

A proven combo that's completely blueprinted and ready to assemble in a DIY kit will be the answer to every driveway mechanic's wish.

Someone has told me that before!

This would also be very economical, using easy to attain existing parts..

The days of depending on one of the few shops like mine to build a quality, effective turn key engine would be over...

And since I don't build TIs in my shop except on certain occasions I have no problem showing every trick I know!

The time line of it being completed (or at least the first engine) is totally dependant upon feedback.

It could be done as early as fall 2008...

Glad to see that I finally had a good idea Smile

Yeah, I was thinking of staring to build TI engines again, but then I had this idea and it's much better for everyone.. Today our labor costs are so expensive due to the increasing overhead that it takes to run a business in 2008, so assembly labor keeps going up..

This kit would have some assembly labor, but nothing like a turnkey dyno tuned engine..

I will have lots of development time in the combo, but I can base it from a combo I recently built as a base engine and that will make things much faster..

if this works 3 more combos of lesser power could be created quite easily....

This engine could be built in someone's living room, or on the kitchen table.. Thats how simple it can be made!

I was able to do this with the TIV, so it will be easier with the Type 1!

Tentative pricing will be available next week.... Anyone serious can email me at productdevelopment@aircooledtechnology.com

Jake, I'll put up (not shut up). PM me and tell me how much to send you as a "good faith" total. I'm willing to wait 'til it's through the development process. If more is needed at a later date ... I'm good with that too.

Jake, sounds like a great idea. If I didn't just get a 200HP turnkey motor from Darren at DRD, I'd be interested in something like this. I think it makes a LOT of sense and would be money well-spent for anyone about to do this on their own. The mistakes you would save them from making would make this information well worth the asking price, whatever that might be. Good idea....go with it for sure!
