I spoke with Dick Beith last week, the current and always top speed record holder of 36HP motors and was advised the engine he went 101 mph in his Beetle in 1961 was a "SINGLE PORT" motor. He indicated he could not afford the Okrasa heads so he took Studebaker valves,"gouged" out the ports and "got lucky!".

Two years later he put that same motor into a lakester and went 129 mph.
