16 and 4, one road loss, and knocking off the top three seeds in the west. That's a helluva show.

Congrats to the LA Kings.

Wow what a run. I never thought the day would ever come when the Kings became Stanley Cup Champions. The parade was awesome, it was like game day times 1000.

Seeing long time HOF announcer Bob Miller and player/color man Jim Fox hold the cup was priceless.

Brodeur signs for two more years in Jersey, Ray Whitney goes to Dallas for a couple of years, and the Wild sign Zenon Konopka to add a little brute force to the lineup.

Shocked Wow. This could be interesting.

The Fourth of July fireworks started a little earlier than usual in the State of Hockey, as the Minnesota Wild has agreed to terms with two of the most sought after free agents in the National Hockey League.

The Wild has agreed to terms with Zach Parise and Ryan Suter for 13 year contracts.

After seemingly endless speculation about where Parise and Suter would land this summer both 27-year-olds come to the Wild on multi-year deals. Turn off Twitter and enjoy the Fourth, Minnesota, the 2012 Parise/Suter Watch is over

But, that $98 million is over a 13 year stretch. Not trying to justify, but that makes it sting a little less.

As a Devils fan, I didn't want to see him go, but this is a good non sign. 13 years is WAY too long for anyone. He's a good player, but not a legend.

I was surprised at the contract length as well. Both players are from the region with family in the area. I suppose that had a lot to do with it.

There is some insider talk that they teamed up to make the deal unfold the way it did.

That seems reasonable to me.

of course they did. Has any of these long term deals to lower the teams annual cap space ever work out? DiPietro? I'm a Kings fan but even having Quick for 11 years doesn't make that much sense to me. In a perfect world everyone would have 1 year contracts and play their heart out.

Surprised to see no talk of the lockout here. Keeping my fingers crossed for a quick resolution!

Don't hold your breath. They are not even close together, nor holding talks and cut staff back to 4 day week. Insider talk down at the garage is not before Thanksgiving (American that is, not our Cdn Thanksgiving on Oct 8th). I wouldn't be surprised not till New Year but of course I may be wrong and hope I am. It's already decimating the retail side. NHL wouldn't be shortening work week just for a short lock out.

I was in a liquor store in Minnesota tongiht. There was a display of beer bottle coozies near the checkout with a nice version that sported the MN Wild logo. I looked at it, then thought "nope, I'm not going to buy it, but I might send a letter about not buying it to Gary Bettman to let him know that I will not support his bullshit". Not sure if it will help, but I feel better. I spent the money on beer instead.

Good for you! I've been wanting a Zdeno Chara jersey for while... but I can say I won't be buying it any time soon.

The NHL is in it 4th lockout and could possibly be facing the second cancelled season under Bettman's leadership. This whole thing is just asinine.
I agree that the players are overpaid, but if you signed the contract, you need to honor it.
