And now I've done it. Found a couple of 75 CB750's for sale today and picked them up in the middle of the workday. Wife isn't as mad as I thought she was going to be.
I'll probably sell the black/blue one and keep the orange "Super Sport". Got them as a good deal as a "bundle".
It's a pretty quick bike, the bug is still faster though. I pulled WOT 1st through 3rd to the redline tonight to see what it had in it. I think my life has forever changed...... _________________ Eric Allred

Been looking for a old Triumph or BSA to make a hardtail bobber. I found a 1970 BSA 650 Firebird for $500 Bucks with a title. I bought it just from this shitty cell phone pic.
I drove to Olympia to get it and it was way more complete than I expected.
The guy was the orignal owner and passed away, His wife said he started tearing it down to restore it.
I brought it home and oiled the cylinders and checked for spark which was good. So I put the plugs back in and gave her some starter fluid and VROOM VROOM! It's pretty clean so I'm torn on welding a hardtail on it. _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

That's why I added the close up pic of the motor. Blown, 2979cc's if I remember right. NOS. Bud is a Master Gun Smith, seems as tho everything he touches he puts his "COOL" stink on. |

DKW Hummel 49cc. This one is a mid 60's. This one is all OG even the Continental WW tires. It looks to haveIts stored indoors its whole life. 2131 original miles. Need to find a carb rebuild kit etc to get it back up and running. Anybody know much about DKW Hummel bikes and/or where to get parts?

Cool bike! Interestingly, a quick google image search showed barely any examples in that color. Most were blue, red or black. _________________ nothing |

My bro & I (me on the back) on my dad's 1936 DKW SB500...Photo was taken in about '68 when my late grandpa owned the bike. My dad has it now and it still looks same...been in the family since '47. SB500's are two-stroke twins...electric start. Somewhat advanced for 1936. _________________

Very nice moped. You'll really be pleased.
There's probably a German Club for them that will have all the parts you need once you become a member, but these guys probably have what you need in the meantime. They're in Germany, but they ship, and they speak English:
http://www.motorrad-stemler.de/index_e.htm
For the carb, I assume it's an old Bing? If so these guys in Kansas can furnish most parts for them:
http://www.bingcarburetor.com/index.html
Then you need to go to the Moped Army website and hope someone over there knows about DKW's. |

That is a great pic and a great story.
Somewhere in my stuff I have a pic of me riding on the gas tank of my Dad's Honda CB350. I was just over a year old. Wish he still had that bike. I would never, ever let go of it. _________________ nothing |

Thanks Corey...I'm glad that bike managed to pass the tests of time that unfortunately cause so many of us to part with our treasures. Hopefully it sticks around long enough for me to become its steward..it's one of the few gearheaded things left that takes me straight back to my grandpa's garage as a child...good memories _________________

Got the BSA running and it's too nice to cut the back off and weld on a hardtail, Even though thats what I really wanted.
So I started fabbing up some number plates.
I also added some clubman bars.

So i'm eventually moving in with my girlfriend And will loose my detached 3 car shop for a 2 car attached garage. I have 4 vehicles and 2 motorcycles. So I traded my '56 GMC to my Dad for his '59 Harley. Pretty ugly but i'm excited about it.
