|
|
I have a Mar '61 RHD SO34 in the paint shop a I write.
The flipseat arms are a 'greeny-gold' hammered paint finish that looks to be original......havnt seen any other flipseat with this paint.
What are your arms painted? The factory bus paint scheme is SWR/BG....

Check out the ad for the 1962 so 34 in poland in the classifieds. My april 61 rhd has body color arms (light grey). From memory the high hinge turkis/ blue white(very early flipseat) in the so34 brochure has gold arms as well as gold edging so23 style on the tables, gold pole for table?and the early bigger wine cooler cupboard door. |

Otahuhu you are a star.....you have confirmed to me that the gold is indeed original, and that makes me very happy !! Wonder if the original purchaser could specify the colour?? |

Which catches? The cabinets latches? There are two versions.
Which arm? Front seat?
There are some repro parts, but not many. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

I just read (or looked at) the entire 22 page thread and with apologies of being so late to the game I have a few comments:
1. Amazing bus! We should all be so lucky as to find a bus as cool as this!
2. Fantastic work! It is great to see these field busses getting saved. Wow that was a lot of work. Kudos to Kris and Paul for saving it!
3. Unless I missed it the one thing this thread is lacking is “After” pictures. I want to see what it looks like after paint. |

...and, I have flip seat arms but don't have an original base. Can anyone give me the dimensions of an original base.
I've also heard flip seats are not quite as comfortable as regular bench or walk-thru seats. Any opinions or fixes? |

The "base" of what? The arms or the seat bottom section perhaps? _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

I 100% DISAGREE that Flipseats are uncomfortable. I have owned all models and the Flipseat is hands down the BEST. The bottom is recessed so you sit lower and dont have to drive hunchback style.
It is hard to see in this pic but the seat bottom is a "v" . Allowing you to sit at least 3-4" lower than a normal bus.

Another so-35 to add to the list:
There are a few more pics in the gallery. Can't wait to get this bus back on the road again. |

Thanks Crofty!
Unfortunately no bn4 The knobs/cables are still there. The bus belonged to the same owner since the mid-seventies. He was terminally ill and his family was selling off his estate. We did get lucky and found the complete large tent and all the poles. I found the lid to the potty bucket but no more. A wildfire burned through the property 15 years ago and burned the wood off the rack which was laying on the ground. Luckily the bus survived that. |
